Punk Rawk News - by Craig Hill

Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy have released the video for "Carpal Tunnel of Love," the second single to be lifted from their latest album, Infinity on High. The video, a wierd kind of animation, remains a helluva lot better than the one for "This Ain't a Scene, It's a God-Damn Arms Race." There's just something about Pete Wentz making fun of himself that is a little too disturbing. Still, something about this song bugs me too - is it just me or is the chord progression in the pre-chorus ripped straight out of another of their songs from a previous album?

In any case, you can see the video and make up your own mind here.

Fall Out Boy have released the video for their new single, "This Ain't a Scene, It's a God-Damn Arms Race," the first to be lifted off their new album, Infinity on High. The song isn't great, and neither is the video, though watching the band making fun of themselves is enjoyable. Among the antics include hip hop producers laughing at the band, a generic emo funeral, and of course, who could forget Pete Wentz revealing his "unit." Hopefully the new album isn't full of songs of this calibre, or it will definitely be a disappointment.

AOL Sessions with Plus 44

December 19th 2006 02:42

Plus 44

Blink 182 spinoff Plus 44 are the latest band to take part in AOL Sessions. The set includes live renditions of four songs from their debut album, When Your Heart Stops Beating, as well as a full Q&A, and a Behind-the-Scenes video. It seems Hoppus hasn't moved too far from Blink days, and his inability to sing live creeps through ever so subtly. And for some reason, Barker is playing the drums one-handed - I guess he'd be the only person able to pull that off. If you like Plus 44, then you'll like it, and if you've never heard of them, its well worth listening to them for at least a few minutes. Click here to check it out.

New MCR Video

December 13th 2006 12:06
My Chemical Romance have turned it down a notch in the music video for their new single, "Famous Last Words." Of course, the vocal and musical power is still all there, but a video of the lone band almost pales in comparison to the ambitious float, and dying cancer patient of the video for "Welcome to the Black Parade."

Update: At last night's My Chemical Romance gig, guitarist Frank Iero let loose, letting the audience know that the cut below for "Famous Last Words" is not, in fact, the final cut, but was released by Warner Brothers because the record label thought that the band was taking too long to approve the version. The final cut is due in a month.

New mewithoutyou video

December 4th 2006 23:39

mewithoutyou

Experimental punk band, mewithoutyou, have released a new video for their song, "Nice and Blue Part Two" from this year's release, Brother, Sister. You can enjoy the quite wierd, and possibly overdone, video here. The song is good, but the video looks a little too much like they're following in the viral footsteps of Ok Go, the previously undiscovered realm of nerd dancing.

New Starting Line material

December 3rd 2006 23:13
Ultra melodic pop-punk quartet, The Starting Line, have departed somewhat from the ultra melodic aspect of their music. At a recent concert in the United States, the band played their first new material since the release of Based on a True Story in 2005. The track, called "Direction," doesn't really sound like the Starting Line everyone would know, and from such a horrible recording, it's a little hard to make a judgement of the song, but at least it's a sign they're still going strong.
