Underoath drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie is now well underway with his solo side-project, The Almost. While there are some hardcore elements evident in the new material, for the most part Gillespie's side-project is a musically significant departure from his main commitment, American hardcore/screamo band, Underoath. The Almost is much more of a rock-focused project, with more melody, and harmonies reminiscent of many of the pop-punk bands around today.
With the imminent release of their debut album, Southern Weather in the coming months, The Almost have released the title track of the album on their myspace. You can also hear one or two other demos from the band. The upcoming album features Aaron Gillespie playing every instrument except for bass on selected songs.
