Interview: mewithoutYou's Aaron Weiss

December 12th 2006 01:25

mewithoutyou

Webzine Synthesis has posted an interview with Jeremy Enigk of Sunny Day Real Estate, and Aaron Weiss of mewithoutYou. The interview shows an interesting perspective of the artists, not so much as artists, but as artists who believe in God. The interview covers a wide range of topics from organic fuel to God to numerous other subjects. You can also hear the full audio for the interview at Synthesis Radio.

"The only experience that I've had or miracle that I've tasted firsthand was the fact that for most of my life I thought about not much else besides killing myself. Even after becoming a Christian and accepting the Christian religion, I didn't feel much of a change in that. Then just shy of three years ago, I had a sort of encounter where I felt like Paul in the Bible when he was knocked off his donkey and blinded, and then all of the sudden everything was different. The only thing that changed was this simple idea of love and this reality of love."

30 Seconds to Mars Interview

December 5th 2006 00:58

30 Seconds to Mars

Absolute Punk have put up an interview with 30 seconds to Mars bassist Matt Wachter. Wachter talks about the self-titled debut, the successful second album A Beautiful Lie, and the videos for "The Kill," and "From Yesterday." The interview is quite enlightening into the inner workings of a band created by Jared Leto, the brilliant star of A Requiem for a Dream. Leto proves that band's with Hollywood stars can actually work, though Russell Crowe's attempt with 30 Odd Foot of Grunt left the audience grunting for actual musical talent. Is there something about the number thirty and Hollywood that I'm not seeing?

There’s enough cookie cutter videos out there that tell the same lame story about a boy loves a girl and it doesn’t work out. So we wanted to do something that was a little different, something that’s challenging and has just never been done before. The video for “From Yesterday” was kind of Jared’s brainchild. He said, “We’re going to shoot it in China” and everyone said he was crazy. Six months later, we were on a plane to China. He had this great vision and followed through and wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Boys Like Girls, revealed in interview

December 4th 2006 02:49
Boys Like Girls

Absolute Punk have put up an interview they did with pop-punk band, Boys Like Girls. In it, the band's guitarist Martin Johnson reveals all about the band, life on tour, Myspace and criticism about their self-titled debut album. You can check out the interview here. Head to their Myspace to check out some of their music.

"I think a lot of people have been positive about the record and that makes me stoked. For the negative ones we’ve seen, everybody has different opinions. We wrote this record because it was the record we wanted to write. If that doesn’t move someone, than that’s ok. What matters to me the most is when I play a show and kids are singing along. It obviously matters to them, and they felt it.
