Punk Rawk News - December 2006

Fall Out Boy have released the video for their new single, "This Ain't a Scene, It's a God-Damn Arms Race," the first to be lifted off their new album, Infinity on High. The song isn't great, and neither is the video, though watching the band making fun of themselves is enjoyable. Among the antics include hip hop producers laughing at the band, a generic emo funeral, and of course, who could forget Pete Wentz revealing his "unit." Hopefully the new album isn't full of songs of this calibre, or it will definitely be a disappointment.

New MCR Video

December 13th 2006 12:06
My Chemical Romance have turned it down a notch in the music video for their new single, "Famous Last Words." Of course, the vocal and musical power is still all there, but a video of the lone band almost pales in comparison to the ambitious float, and dying cancer patient of the video for "Welcome to the Black Parade."

Update: At last night's My Chemical Romance gig, guitarist Frank Iero let loose, letting the audience know that the cut below for "Famous Last Words" is not, in fact, the final cut, but was released by Warner Brothers because the record label thought that the band was taking too long to approve the version. The final cut is due in a month.

New Starting Line material

December 3rd 2006 23:13
Ultra melodic pop-punk quartet, The Starting Line, have departed somewhat from the ultra melodic aspect of their music. At a recent concert in the United States, the band played their first new material since the release of Based on a True Story in 2005. The track, called "Direction," doesn't really sound like the Starting Line everyone would know, and from such a horrible recording, it's a little hard to make a judgement of the song, but at least it's a sign they're still going strong.
